Disease Screening
At Bedrock Animal Clinic, we offer in-house testing for a large assortment of diseases. These tests include, but are not limited to:

Cancer Screening (Canine) can provide early detection and improve treatment options and outcomes. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in older dogs.
Complete Blood Count (CBC) provides valuable information about a pet’s overall health and can help detect conditions such as infection, inflammation, anemia, clotting disorders, and even some cancers.
Blood Chemistry Screening is used to assess liver, kidney, pancreas, and other organ function, monitor chronic diseases, evaluate the effects of medications, and detect electrolyte imbalances.
Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is a contagious retrovirus that affects cats, weakening their immune system and increasing the risk of infections, anemia, and certain cancers like lymphoma. FeLV is a leading cause of death in cats, but early detection through testing is crucial for managing infected cats and preventing spread.
Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a retrovirus that weakens a cat’s immune system, making them more vulnerable to infections and certain cancers—similar in behavior to HIV in humans, though it is species-specific (not transmissible to humans).
Canine Heartworm is caused by the parasite Dirofilaria immitis, which is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. The worms grow in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels, potentially causing severe damage or death if untreated. Heartworm testing is essential for early detection. Dogs can be infected for months before showing signs.
Canine Tick-borne Disease Screening is important as these diseases can cause serious health problems in dogs if not detected and treated early.
Intestinal Parasites can cause serious illness and some are zoonotic (transmissible to humans), so regular testing and deworming are essential.
